| Q: Why is my candle burning a hole or tunnel in the center of my candle? A: Try to extinguish the flame only after the melt pool has fully formed across the whole top of the candle. Q: Why is my candle not burning in the center and burning to one side? A: Check for drafts and/or re-center the wick. Also is candle on a flat surface? Try shimming the low side. Q: Why is there soot coming from my candle's flame? A: The candle's wick is probable too long and should be trimmed. If there is a 'mushroom' at the tip of the wick this should be removed. Remember to keep the wick trimmed to 1/4". Q: My candle only produces scent when I first light it and seems to not smell as strong after a while. A: Our sense of smell suffers from overload quickly when there is one predominate smell being continuously sensed and as a result, home fragrance users typically cannot smell the scent in their homes after a relatively short period. This phenomenon is called scent adaption. If you leave and then re-enter the room or house that is burning your Heavenly Scent Candle product after a short absence, the fragrance will again be as strong as it was before because you have allowed your nose to 're-set'. To reduce this annoyance try extinguishing the candle and lighting another with a different fragrance that is compatible with the first. This will give your nose something new to sense and your experimental side something interesting to try. |
| Candle Care, Maintenance, and Use General The following information is provided to help you achieve the optimum performance capability of your Heavenly Scent Candle product. For best results center and trim the wick to 1/4” before each burn and burn the candle long enough until a complete liquid pool is formed on the surface. Following this process will eliminate 'tunneling' which is when the candle burns a hole down the core forming a well. Extinguish the candle after a 1/4”-3/8” deep liquid wax pool is created or after about 4 hours. This pool depth is adequate to deliver a sufficient scent throw for many hours. Following this procedure will maximize the life of your candle. Excess soot production will occur if the wick is more than the recommended length, which is indicated by mushrooming at the tip of the wick. This occurs because the flame is too hot and excess soot is being produced indicating incomplete combustion. This may occur if the candle burns for more than the recommended time. For more on the way wicks work see “Science of the Candle’s Wick”. Safety Keep candle free from any matches, wick trimmings, or any flammable materials. Burn on a stable heat resistant surface for no more than 4 hours at a time. Please use common sense while placing and burning your candle including the recognition that pets and children can cause accidents and that the candle does produce some heat and the container may become warm on the sides and at the bottom. Never leave a burning candle unattended. |
